Tottenham could be ready to make a €50m offer for Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni and reunite him with Antonio Conte.
That’s according to Inter Live, who say the ‘danger’ of a move from the Premier League remains for the Italian side, who are trying to sign him to a new deal.
Bastoni recently spoke of his admiration for Tottenham manager Conte, who he worked with at Inter and credits for making a huge impact on his career.
“The title came with him, coinciding with his arrival at Inter,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“It is as if I made a qualitative leap. Conte is a driver, a motivator, who makes specific requests to his players trying to transfer a winning mentality. I owe him so much.”
Inter Live now follow that up and say the Italian club are working to get Bastoni signed to a new deal as his current contract expires in 2024.
Relations with his agents are excellent and the first talks could soon be underway, a positive for Inter as they are wary of suitors in the Premier League.
Tottenham in particular are thought to be keen on the defender, via Conte who knows him well, and it is believed they ‘could decide’ to come forward with offers of €50m.
That’s something Spurs were willing to pay this year and the feeling is that they would be happy to do so again next year.
The decision will be Bastoni’s, who will either need to express a desire to stay, which he has done in the past, or make it clear he wants to move in the final year of his deal.
