Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo ‘doesn’t even think about going to Tottenham’, despite their efforts this summer.
That’s according to journalist Roberto Pruzzo, with fellow journalist Furio Focolari insisting Jose Mourinho has blocked any negotiations with his former club.
Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for Zaniolo this summer, with claims that they are pushing to get a deal over the line.
They’ve been busy spending and improving Antonio Conte’s squad and Zaniolo was the latest target, with it claimed the Italian boss was pushing for his signature.
So far the two sides have not struck a deal, despite Roma being semi-open to selling Zaniolo, particularly after they signed Paulo Dybala.
Earlier this week we covered a report stating talks had hit a roadblock because Roma changed the terms of the deal, making things more difficult for Tottenham.
The situation has now been covered by both Pruzzo and Focolari, whose comments to Radio Radio Mattino have been covered by Forza Roma.
“Roma will finish third in my opinion,” Focolari stated.
“The Giallorossi have made progress in team play. Mourinho had the ability to intervene in the purchases, Abraham last year and now Dybala and Wijnaldum up to Zaniolo.
“Mourinho’s intervention, as things stand, has blocked negotiations with Tottenham.
“If I could think of a Roma with the three in midfield, Matic, Wijnaldum and Pellegrini, and in front Zaniolo, Dybala and Abraham it would be the best,” added Pruzzo.
“At Salerno, you are favoured, you have to avoid problems by putting the game well from the start. Start well with confidence.
“It appears to me that Zaniolo doesn’t even think about going to Tottenham.”
