VfB Stuttgart midfielder Orel Mangala has today missed training with the German side amid talk of a move to Nottingham Forest.
That’s according to BILD, who say he may never train with the Germans again as he eyes a move to the Premier League.
They explain that the absence today was due to a positive Coronavirus test, meaning he will now spend five days in isolation.
But he may not return, with it stated the midfielder is ‘about to leave’ the club as he wants to move to England and the Premier League in particular.
In fact, the deal to take him there is ‘expected to gain momentum’ this week, and there are three interested parties.
Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, and West Ham are ‘still fighting’ for the 24-year-old’s signature and ‘would all like’ to sign him if they can.
The latter two are new entries into the fight, with Nottingham Forest named as suitors earlier this week when it was claimed they’d seen a first offer rejected.
Mangala now wants to speed up a departure and will ‘make a decision in the next few days’ about his future.
He sees a move to the Premier League as the next step in his career.
That’s important for Stuttgart, with Mangala, set to bring much-needed money into the transfer coffers, which are currently running negative.
Their aim is to end up €20m in the black after spending €10m but only bringing in €3.5m, so they will likely be targeting a fee upwards of the €15m Nottingham Forest were said to have offered.
