We’re not really sure where Il Messaggero are getting their valuations from, but they still believe Lazio have a chance of signing Moussa Dembélé from Celtic before the end of the transfer window.
We say this because their Thursday edition suggests the Serie A side could get the Celtic Park star for as little as €10m, despite his contract running for another two years.
Celtic haven’t always sold their players for the largest of amounts, sure, but in this market, selling a player like the France U21 international for the lowest eight figure sum possible? We’re not having that.
Furthermore, there’s been no signs from Brendan Rodgers’ side that they’d be open to such a deal.
Lazio would want the former Fulham starlet to act as backup to Ciro Immobile for the upcoming season, which would basically mean playing against the smaller sides to give the Italy international a rest.
This was a role filled by Felipe Caicedo last year, and we’re not convinced this is appealing enough for Dembélé.
Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
