Manchester United fans witnessed the next manager of their club pick up a dominant 4-1 win over Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
It wasn’t just Rúben Amorim who was on show during the game, as Viktor Gyökeres grabbed a sensational hat-trick, taking his tally in all competitions to 23 so far this season.
Those are incredible numbers and considering how he is doing all that under Amorim, it is natural for Manchester United fans to take notice.
The potential transfer is also attracting interest in Sweden.
Journalist Mattias Tengblad has written a column for Expressen today, covering the 26-year-old’s performance against City.
He writes that the striker’s performance will resonate in Europe and the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Arsenal or Manchester City will be tempted to move.
Dan Ashworth and Manchester United also get a mention.
The piece notes that selling Gyökeres during his time at Brighton is a big regret for Ashworth. Tengblad believes that the way the Swede has grown should be ‘embarrassing’ for Ashworth and he urges United to sign the forward.
There’s a belief that the Red Devils’ sporting director will not want to repeat another regret associated with Gyökeres, and that could encourage him to move.
