Look, at this point, it’s clear that Chelsea are interested in Rafael Leao and despite a setback this summer, they still want to sign the Portuguese.
This seems to directly stem from Todd Boehly, who was the club’s interim director of football during the recent transfer window, and the American owner wants to continue spending.
It appears he has the money to do so, as Leao will not be a cheap purchase should Chelsea manage to get a deal over the line, as explained by Corriere dello Sport.
We covered a report on Wednesday saying that the Blues could return with a new attempt to sign the Milan star, with them reportedly serious about the transfer.
Well, Corriere have a bit more on that, explaining that despite Chelsea ‘being dismissed’ in the summer, they ‘could return with an official offer in excess of €100m’ for the player.
As things stand, Milan value their player at around €150m, or close to that, which was the amount in his recent release clause, and if offers arrive ‘that would approach this figure, they would lead the management to sit at the negotiating table’.
Therefore, the next few months ‘will be decisive’, because we all know the Serie A side would like to renew their player, but Chelsea aren’t ready to give up, and money talks.
It always does.
