Burnley’s interest in Angers midfielder Angelo Fulgini goes back to the summer transfer window when they ‘started’ efforts to recruit the Frenchman.

The Clarets interest in the midfielder was made clear yesterday, with a report from Foot Mercato stating that they were thinking about a €15m bid in January.

That report claimed that Burnley had been following Fulgini for months and, following their success with Maxwell Cornet, were now ready to make a move for him.

Any bid is likely to be warmly welcomed by the French club too, who could desperately do with the money amid something of a financial crisis.

It seems, though, that Burnley’s interest is nothing new, with FM journalist Santi Aouna covering the Fulgini talk in a separate tweet.

He says they are ‘very interested’ in the midfielder and ‘could make a move’ once the winter transfer window is open.

That was something they considered doing in the summer when, through infamous agent Willie McKay, they ‘started to try’ to recruit him.

That would suggest Burnley’s interest is far more advanced than had been previously thought, and they’ve even done some of the groundwork to make a move happen.

Whether it does in January remains to be seen, but we expect to hear more about the potential deal in the run-up to the window nonetheless.
