After his good performance against Ukraine, the mood has changed surrounding Aston Villa’s Nicolo Zaniolo in Italy.

Lambasted for costing his team the three points against North Macedonia, the Villa Park signing is now being praised all over the country.

However, there are some who still believe there is a lot to be worked on before the Aston Villa player can live up to the hype that has followed him around since his early AS Roma days, as explained by Alessandro Austini on Teleradio Stereo, relayed by Forza Roma.

He said: “Spalletti has the capacity of entering inside the head of players. Zaniolo has everything to be a great player, but he often makes the wrong choices. He needs to have a football teacher.”

Whether that guide will be Unai Emery or the Italy national team manager remains to be seen, although the former will be spending far more time with him on a day to day basis.

There’s a reason why the Aston Villa manager wanted to work with the 24-year-old, and his display against Ukraine will give the Premier League club and all those within it more confidence that they have a real talent in their midst, just as long as he can be steered in the right direction by the right person.
