This week, reports from the Brazilian and the English media both said Arsenal are interested in the signing of Palmeiras midfielder Danilo.
It was first claimed that the Gunners had placed a £20m bid for the player, and then said by other journalists that the Verdão had actually not received an official offer yet.
Well, as Jorge Nicola now features an update on the situation, he comes up to say that this deal with Arsenal is only possible if it takes place in January.
On YouTube, he reveals he spoke to his sources from Palmeiras and was told ‘there’s no negotiation’.
Furthermore, the club wouldn’t sell him this window ‘under any hypothesis’, as they are in the mix for the biggest titles in South America until the end of the year.
Nicola also claims to have talked to someone from Danilo’s staff.
There, he was told that even though the player isn’t going to Arsenal now, he could ‘end up moving to the English club in the next transfer window’.
The journalist ‘asked why that optimism’, to which his source claimed that even though Palmeiras won’t sell their stars in the current Brazilian season, they’ll need money for 2023.
Furthermore, president Leila Pereira is more open for bids from January onwards.
Aware of that possibility, Arsenal will instead make an offer ‘in the coming months’ with it believed the Gunners will put on the table something around €25m.
