Belgium’s national team set-up have for years not been afraid to call up players despite fitness concerns at clubs.
Unlike some national teams, Belgium certainly won’t bow down to angry club managers, and that’s led to several conflicts over the years.
But it also helps the national set-up, with it being known that when a Belgian withdraws from the squad, it’s not through something light.
During the current international break, Belgium have worries over several players, one of them Romelu Lukaku. DH state the Manchester United star is the ‘most worrying situation’ injury-wise, having an MRI scan on his ankle yesterday.
DH say the scan revealed ‘no break or structural damage’, which will please Jose Mourinho, but the player’s situation is being watched closely and he’s Belgium’s major fitness concern.
Marouane Fellaini also sat out team training, following an individual programme.
