Leeds United have to appoint a new manager after confirming Sam Allardyce’s departure following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.
Allardyce joined the Whites in May and was tasked with managing the last four league games of the 2022/23 season. He managed to pick up a point and left Leeds to finish in 19th spot.
Leeds are in the market looking for a new manager and FC Lorient’s Régis Le Bris has been identified as a target, according to Le Télégramme.
The 47-year-old took charge of the Ligue 1 side last summer and it was his first experience of managing the senior team. He helped Lorient finish 10th in the table.
It’s stated the work done by Le Bris at the French club is ‘already arousing interest’ from Leeds United and OGC Nice. The manager is well aware of his worth and is also ‘being ambitious’.
Earlier this year, Lorient extended the coach’s deal until 2027. That hasn’t stopped him from talking about his immediate future at the club.
“There are discussions at the moment… I really want to take advantage of the moment in relation to everything that we have been through and close the season in the best possible way. Then we will think about the future in the next few days,” he said.
Although Le Bris’ profile has attracted Leeds, it’s not made clear whether the Lorient boss is open to joining the Whites, who will play in the Championship next season.
