Even Brøndby could beat Manchester United and Copenhagen’s win over them in the Champions League was nothing special.
That’s according to Brøndby’s Frederik Alves, who was ‘not blown away’ by the performance from the Danish side and has made that clear to EkstraBladet.
Copenhagen beat Manchester United the Champions League group stages earlier this week, coming back from 2-0 down to eventually beat Erik ten Hag’s side 4-3 with a late winner from Roony Bardghji.
It was the latest disappointing defeat and low for Manchester United, whose season appears to be teetering on the brink as they suffer setback after setback.
Conversely, though, it was a night of huge pride for Copenhagen, who undoubtedly secured one of their most famous victories ever and even gave their slim chances of qualifying for the Champions League knockout stages a major shot in the arm.
They’ll remembering the result for some time to come and hoping it can spark even more big results moving forwards, particularly when they take on Brøndby this weekend.
They should be favourites for that clash after their big midweek result, but it seems their opponents aren’t worried, at least if Alves’ comments are anything to go by.
“It doesn’t help. I’m sure we could beat United, because we showed here in Brøndby that we are able to beat them quite convincingly, but we just lacked full control of the game for 90 minutes,” he said.
“I still think we are better than them (Copenhagen and United). United played really well until they had a man sent off. You could see that FCK also came out really badly, but after the break they played better.
“Cadeau to them for winning over them. It’s always great to win against Premier League teams, so it’s great for them.”
