As always, wherever Celtic fans travel to, their presence is well documented by the local press, and their trip to Paris did not go unnoticed.
In fact, it was lauded.
Travelling around 700 miles to watch Celtic ultimately get thumped 7-1 at the hands of Kylian Mbappé, Neymar and co., the Bhoys never caused a problem, and became an attraction for the locals, mesmerised by the flood of green that had descended on certain areas of the French capital.
Around 5000 supporters made Paris their own, signing songs and drinking beer, and Le Parisien went to meet a few to get a feel of what the mood was like ahead of the game.
Interviewed by the newspaper, Fergus, who was around Place de Clichy said: “Paris Saint-Germain fans are cool. They respect us, so we respect them. The atmosphere was great during the first game. The only one we don’t like is Neymar. He’s always on the floor. He’s nervous. He really is a bad boy.”
Proud of their ‘best fans in the world status’ FIFA recently granted them, the remaining 3000 who didn’t have tickets for the game grouped around bars in the centre of town to watch the rout.
One complaint, though: “Your bars are too small!”, said Tixie, who had organised a big room in the south of Paris to view the match in for around 1000 fans.
As Le Parisien put it, the trip ended up being a bit of tourism, a lot of alcohol, but for the football, ‘they’ll have to try again’.
