Barcelona are adding a kit.
Football clubs used to have one kit and on any occasion the opposition clashed too much, they’d fashion up an alternative.
That then changed to two official kits, coming out ever more frequently, and at some stage in the not too distant past there was a third kit brought in… almost always for commercial reasons.
That’s how Barcelona have run their kits in recent seasons, but now there’s set to be a change for the Catalan club. Saturday’s edition of Sport reports that next season Lionel Messi and co will have a fourth kit.
The new shirt will only be used for special football occasions, so the biggest of matches. It sounds like this may be being lined up for Barcelona versus Real Madrid matches.
Barca’s fourth kit will be yellow with four red slashes across, Sport say these represent Guifré el Pilós, thought to be the founder of Catalonia, and his bloodied fingers being wiped on a shield after battle.
