Thomas Vermaelen suffered an injury during the international break and will be out of action for six weeks as he joins Samuel Umtiti in Barcelona’s treatment room.

Ernesto Valverde’s side are either looking to take experienced players in that position on loan or sign younger players who have the experience of playing in La Liga and for the second option, they;ve identified Getafe’s Djené Dakonam and Unai Núñez of Athletic Bilbao as targets.
Technical secretary Eric Abidal’s assistant, Ramon Planes, moved to Camp Nou from Getafe, with whom he spent one season, and when he was at the Madrid-based club, Planes signed Djene from Sint-Truidense in 2017.
The Togolese player impressed in his debut season in Spain and has so far missed only two league fixtures since the start of last season. His form for his current employer saw him attract interest from Sevilla, Villarreal and Premier League clubs in the summer and he has a €35m release clause in his contract.
Núñez, on the other hand, has seen his playing time limited under Eduardo Berizzo and Mundo claims that he may not be included in the new manager’s plans.
The Catalan club have long been following the player and the 21-year-old, along with Djene, could be an option for Barcelona in January to strengthen their back four.
