Former Arsenal skipper Thomas Vermaelen is expected to leave Barcelona this summer, and could be heading back to the Premier League, according to reports in Spain.

According to Catalan based website Mundo Deportivo, this week could be decisive for Vermaelen, as he could evaluate offers from at least six clubs.

Liverpool, West Ham, Inter, Milan, Naples and Besiktas have reportedly made offers for the Belgian international, who has made just 11 league appearances in the last couple of seasons.

Another Spanish daily Sport say Inter and Roma are the most realistic options for Vermaelen, and that Barcelona want €10m for the player.

Sport haven’t mentioned Liverpool and West Ham, and it’s actually a bit difficult to understand why they would be interested in a player who has been so injury-prone. Vermaelen is an excellent player when fit, but he’s been cursed with terrible injury records.

Mundo Deportivo could very well be trying to help Barcelona raise interest in Vermaelen like they did with Marc Bartra.
