If Barcelona were hoping for a quiet month now that the transfer window is closed, it seems they were sorely wrong.

Rather than the rumours dying down, they’ve only picked up considerably, particularly after the injury Ousmane Dembélé.

With the Frenchman set to miss six months, Barça may be granted permission to sign an emergency player.

They’ve seemingly targeted a striker if they are granted the opportunity to do so, particularly as Luis Suárez is also out, and Real Sociedad’s Willian José is one they have been heavily linked to.

Reports this week have both had Barcelona close to getting a deal done, while simultaneously turning their attention elsewhere because his asking price is too much.

While it remains to be seen what happens, at the minute it is looking like being the latter; the debate will be about whether the Brazilian is good enough to play for the club.

One man who thinks he is is fellow Brazilian Rivaldo, who has offered his backing to the proposed move.

“Now that he is 28 years old, it is perhaps the perfect moment for a greater challenge such as his signing with FC Barcelona,” Sport quote him as saying.

“When I played with him at Sao Paulo, he was 19 years old, and he already showed sparks of quality that he has demonstrated in Europe.

“Playing at Barça is totally different to playing at Real, at Barça, everything becomes easier, and you can score more goals. It would be a very interesting signing for Barcelona.”
