Ousmane Dembele’s time at Barcelona continues to be something of a rollercoaster, with the player never gaining the importance he had at Borussia Dortmund.
Since forcing his way out of the Bundesliga side and to the Camp Nou in a mega-money move, there’s been all kinds of issues around the Frenchman.
At times, the Catalan media have liked to question his attitude and maturity, blaming that on his failure to really settle and be able to impress for Barcelona.
But, on top of any claims about the player’s professionalism, fitness worries have been the major concern.
Now he’s facing a spell on the sidelines again and it could be a prolonged one. Monday saw reports from the Catalan media about a hamstring issue, and now the club has announced just how bad the situation is.
On Tuesday afternoon they sent out a press release saying Dembele has ‘a complete proximal hamstring tear in his right thigh’.
A decision will be made in the coming hours on how he’ll recover and what steps will need to be taken. It’s then Barcelona may share any idea they have about a return date, although it’s already thought his season could be over.
