As far as the Catalan media have it, Barcelona have been working to sign Franck Kessie from AC Milan for a number of months.
The midfielder’s contract expires at the end of the current season, and during the last campaign it was thought there wouldn’t be too many problems in the way of a renewal. Kessie had spoken publicly about his commitment to the Rossoneri, and then there was a turnaround in the summer.
That caused some anger, and just like with Ousmane Dembele at Barcelona, there were even claims Kessie would be frozen out of the team. Both players are now getting games, with those threats of inaction long gone.
Gerard Romero claims, via Sport, that Barcelona made a breakthrough with their Kessie attempts on Monday. There’s now ‘total agreement’ on the move, and the player has given his approval to switch to the Camp Nou as a free agent at the end of the season.
Andreas Christensen is thought to be in a similar situation, and it looks like Barcelona’s plan of signing free agents has had a couple of early successes.
