Mundo Deportivo have a curious claim in their Wednesday edition, which involves Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.
On their back-page it’s stated Sergi Roberto’s agent Josep Maria Orobitg, with Barcelona renewal talks at an impasse, has travelled to Manchester, with the concentration being on the City side of it.
This is where one would expect Mundo Deportivo to link Sergi Roberto to Manchester City, but they don’t, unless there’s an underlying hint we’re not picking up.
Orobitg is said to have taken the opportunity of a break in Barcelona negotiations to travel to Manchester and meet up with Pere Guardiola. Pep’s brother was ‘was waiting for him to solve day-to-day matters of the Manchester City manager’.
It’s then added ‘His contract ends in June 2019, but his renewal is not the issue that concerns them today and for which he has traveled.’
The issue then isn’t stated.
There’s no hint of trouble at Manchester City for Guardiola, or anything like that, just ‘day to day issues’ which apparently require two agents meeting in the city.
If one was trying to hype this story into something it also certainly isn’t, it could be pointed out Orobitg is also Sergio Busquets’ agent.
