Francisco Trincao is starting to come good for Barcelona, after doubts were expressed in his first few months at the La Liga side.
But whilst things improve on the pitch, he’s managed to annoy a few people off it. Buying a Lamborghini Huracan Evo for €250k, Trincao posed with the vehicle at the car dealership, for images which inevitably ended up on social media and then across the general Spanish press.
In his column for Mundo Deportivo, Lluis Canut points out Pep Guardiola’s first car was a secondhand Volkswagen Golf, partly gifted to him by Michael Laudrup.
Whilst Canut accepts times have changed, he doesn’t believe it was wise for Trincao to buy and pose with such a car right now: ‘It would not hurt that with the difficult times caused by the pandemic, certain ostentations are avoided and more so in a 21-year-old boy.’
Trincao is likely lining up problems for himself, especially if he hits some poor form in the not too distant future. The pictures will surface again and almost certainly be used to show how out of touch some young footballers are.
Should he continue playing well, it will soon be forgotten.
