Barcelona are paying just €1m for Luuk de Jong’s loan spell this season, courtesy of Sevilla’s determination to get rid of him.

That’s according to Diario de Sevilla, who cover the situation after the Dutchman’s surprise move to the Camp Nou on deadline day.

They say that Barcelona signed De Jong after PSV Eindhoven decided not to make their own move for him after a summer of being linked.

According to their information, the agreement between the two clubs will see Barcelona only pay a third of the annual amortisation that took De Jong to Sevilla in the first place.

They paid €12.5m on a four-year contract, but of the three lots of €3m still to be paid, Barcelona will only be contributing €1m plus some performance-based bonuses.

Sevilla accepted that offer as they were desperate to get rid of De Jong, who did not fit in and has never been a player who the fans have taken to.

Barcelona also have an option to make the move a permanent one, although whether that happens at the end of the season remains to be seen.
