Barcelona are on the verge of being able to announce a renewal for Nico Gonzalez, report Mundo Deportivo on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old has been the subject of repeat rumours over the past month or so, with claims of interest from elsewhere, including the Premier League. Now it’s reported a rough agreement has been found on a new deal, and only the final fringes remain to be finalised.
Ferran Martinez, a journalist for Mundo Deportivo, reports Gonzalez will commit himself to the Blaugrana for a further three years. The plan is he will be registered with Barcelona B next season, yet still be around the first team squad, and then the season after he’ll completely move to the senior side.
The midfielder has rejected other offers, determined to make it with Barcelona, and it’s explained the renewal could be made official ‘in the coming days’.
Despite earlier claims of a possible loan, that isn’t covered by Mundo Deportivo today, with the clear suggestion the youngster is now expected to continue his development in Catalonia.
