Liverpool are reportedly about to receive the first bonus for the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.
According to Catalan outlet Sport, Barça will be paying the Reds €5m due to the player’s first 25 appearances for the club. He completed it in Saturday’s game against Real Valladolid.
This is the first bonus paid by Barcelona since they spent €120m to sign the Brazilian star from Anfield in January. Sport claims that the clubs have agreed €40m in bonuses in total.
The Catalan side will now have to pay €20m when Coutinho reaches 100 appearances for the club, which will still take a while to happen.
The other bonuses have to do with the Champions League. Barça will pay €5m in case they win the tournament with him. And the last one is a bit confusing, at least in the way Sport writes.
They say it’s €20m if the club qualify for the competition between 2018 and 2023. Meanwhile, AS makes it more simple, claiming that qualifying for the next edition is enough for the clause to be activated.
