We might be gearing up for the January transfer window, and Barcelona are bound to be a part of many rumours, yet they might not always be about what happens on the pitch.
According to RAC1 in Spain, the club are also looking to shake things up behind the scenes, as the radio station report there have been contacts with Mateu Alemany about switching allegiances.
Technically still Valencia’s general director, the 56-year-old’s job has been especially shaky of late following the very strange parting of ways with Marcelino earlier this season, with AS describing it as ‘walking the tightrope’, and Barcelona are looking to take advantage of that.
RAC1 explain the La Liga champions want to ‘incorporate him in the sports are of the club’, but there’s a rather important obstacle in their way, and that’s a clause in Alemany’s contract.

Apparently, the general director has one that ‘prevents him from signing up for another La Liga club’, and while he has been trying to ‘get rid of it’, he’s ‘struggling’ to do so.
That’s problematic for all involved, but it suggests Alemany would be interested in the job on offer at Barcelona if he is looking to ease a transition that way.
Mundo Deportivo add that if he ends his contract before June 30th, when it’s due to expire, he will have to pay Valencia €3m.
