Barcelona have identified Brighton & Hove Albion star Kaoru Mitoma as a transfer target.
That’s according to today’s Mundo Deportivo, who state the La Liga side’s technical staff and their scouts like the 26-year-old ‘a lot’.
Last season, the winger managed 10 goals and eight assists and played a key role in helping Brighton qualify for the Europa League for the first time in their history. He has three goals and four assists from 11 games this season.
Various sources have told Mundo that Barca coaches are pleased with his qualities and what stands out is the ‘great ease he has in breaking defences’.
At the Camp Nou, they currently don’t have a recognised left winger who can break the opposition defence, following Ansu Fati’s loan move to The Amex. Even though Barca have other priorities for next summer they are following Mitoma.
Taking the Japan international’s profile and abilities into account, it’s claimed the Catalan club see him as a ‘complete’ player.
Mitoma’s current deal expires in 2025 and Mundo suggest Roberto De Zerbi’s side may ‘agree to sell’ him next summer if he decides against renewing the contract.
To sum it up, Barcelona like the player ‘a lot’ and he can be ‘very appealing’ to them next summer… if Brighton fail to tie him down to a new deal.
