The front page of Sunday’s edition of Sport shouts out the word ‘WAR’, and explains the current battle ongoing between PSG and Barcelona for Frenkie de Jong.

The French club have held at least two meetings with the entourage of the Dutch footballer, and there’s been some confidence that a move to Ligue 1 could be announced relatively quickly.

De Jong wants his future settled so he can concentrate on the second half of the season with Ajax. Despite that suggesting he doesn’t want things to be hyped up, he often encourages the opposite when being quizzed on the impending move.

Sport say Barcelona just aren’t for giving up, and will fight to the end to try and get a deal for the player.

Relations between Barca and PSG aren’t the best following the transfer of Neymar and other squabbles, and this time things are heating up again.

With Barcelona looking to sign Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer, and the French club furious about the situation, there’s more than one battle going on at once.

Things could get quite messy.
