Having already agreed to sign Frenkie de Jong in the summer, Barcelona aren’t done with talent in the Eredivisie this year.
While there are obviously interested in Matthijs de Ligt (then again, everyone is), the La Liga side are also looking further down the table, this time at Groningen.
According to RTV Noord, Barcelona have ‘serious interest’ in Dutch midfielder Ludovit Reis, who has impressed with the Eredivisie side this season, starting 76% of his team’s league matches at just 18 years of age.
In fact, the outlet believe an offer is ‘expected’ to arrive on Groningen’s desk as early as next week for the youngster, who has also one goal and one assist to his name so far.
‘Several discussions’ are said to have taken place with Barcelona’s technical director, José Mari Bakero, suggesting the interest is definitely there and that offer is coming.
We’ll have to wait and see next week if this comes to fruition, but it’s fair to say the La Liga giants have a new hunting ground.
