The Frenkie De Jong transfer rumour is growing increasingly dramatic.
Now it’s not only the Catalan press dragging in additional club after additional club, helped with enthusiasm by the English media. Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf this week pulled Manchester United and Real Madrid into the equation.
It was claimed the Spanish club are willing to put €80m on the table to sign De Jong, and this looks like a possible Ajax attempt to set the price at around that figure. Similar has happened before with De Telegraaf and the Dutch club.
Nevertheless, waves have been created in Barcelona.
Sport covers the situation on Tuesday, and the Catalan newspaper states there’s a ‘war’ now going on for the player’s signature.
The ‘greats’ of European football are said to be fighting for the young footballer, but Barcelona remain confident.
Despite a failed attempt in the summer, Sport say Barcelona are ‘convinced’ they’ve laid the foundations to sign De Jong for a good price.
This is all down to the 21 year old being keen to play for the Blaugrana, which is a line continually pushed in the Catalan media.
