Catalan outlet Sport comes up on Friday evening with a story which could turn out to be ‘the big surprise of the summer’.
They say Barcelona are interested in signing Eric Garcia from Manchester City, and the talks for a transfer have already begun.
The Camp Nou side have made contact to make it known they’re interested in the signing, and since the defender’s contract expires next year, it’s claimed City accepted to open negotiations.
Garcia is a product of Barcelona’s academy, and left the Catalan side to join the Premier League club back in 2017.
Sport writes that Barcelona never lost track of the player, and continued to follow his evolution in England. Given his recent improvement, they’ve now decided they want him back at the club.
According to the report, talks are in the initial stages, there’s still no information on how much Barça would pay for the player, or even how much Manchester City would demand.
But Sport insists there’s a real chance this deal could go through.
