Ousmane Dembele’s situation at Barcelona has not been great lately and, as far as the Catalan media are concerned, he has only himself to blame for it.

Last week, the Blaugrana were unable to locate the forward for over an hour and a half and the same weekend, he arrived late at the Camp Nou for his side’s clash against Real Betis.

Ernesto Valverde dropped him from the squad for the last league tie as a punishment for ‘lack of attitude’.

On November 14th, we carried a report from Mundo Deportivo, who claimed the 21-year-old’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, met the leaders of the Catalan club to discuss his client’s situation at Camp Nou.

Pep Segura, the La Liga winners general manager, confirmed the meeting with the agent and backed Dembele to turn things around at Barcelona.

“It’s true that I had a meeting with the agents of Dembele. But yesterday I had three meetings with three representatives. My job is to meet with representatives, they are common things,” he told Cadena SER.

“There’s no problem with Dembele. “It’s a normal situation for a young player with a lot of talent who has arrived at a club as big as Barca, full of great players. He had never experienced that before and there’s an adaptation process that he has to go through.

“He’s really young and he’s never had to get up to adjust to a playing style like ours. We admit he’s finding it difficult. He also recognises that. What we are doing is working as hard as possible so that he can adapt in the best possible way.”

Segura’s message is clear to Dembele and the the World Cup winner needs to step up and adapt to the club’s requirements in order to become successful with the Spanish champions.
