Jordi Alba has less than 18 months left on his current deal at Barcelona.

Tuesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo has a ‘Top Secret’ report about the left-back’s current situation regarding his contract.

His agent Vicente Forés met the La Liga winners’ officials last week to advance the negotiations of extending his client’s deal.

The former Valencia man will turn 30 in March and was initially offered a three year deal. They were not on the same page in regards to the length of the deal, something that has changed now.

After Alba’s representative held talks with president Josep Maria Bartomeu in January, they have agreed to extend the length of the deal to five years.

It’s claimed that the two parties are not close to finding an agreement because both the defender and his agent are aware that Alba’s performance has been outstanding and his salary must match with the performance on the pitch.

There is still no agreement between Alba and Barcelona in regards to the salary.

Barca believe the offer they made is generous and are optimistic that Alba will extend his stay at the club beyond 2020.
