Catalan newspaper Sport claiming Barcelona are moving in on Thomas Lemar partly to will annoy Liverpool is one of the best stories of the window.
The Catalan newspaper stated earlier on Wednesday: ‘Barca has entered fully into negotiations for the signing of Lemar with the aim, also, of blocking the English club, which refuses to sell Coutinho.’
That, naturally, was amusing to Liverpool supporters and wider football followers. And it seems Barcelona’s plan (or Sport’s plan on their behalf) isn’t having the desired impact with fans.
Rather than be pleased Barcelona would be showing Liverpool who the boss is, or any other ego massaging slant, the club’s fans seems against the Lemar idea and presentation of it.
Sport have run a poll, and of more than 5000 votes so far, 75% don’t think signing the Liverpool target is a good idea.
In the comments underneath Sport’s article, there’s a whole stream of anger from Barcelona fans annoyed with the club’s summer transfer business. Signing Lemar won’t fix things, regardless of Sport being quite excited that it would annoy Liverpool.
