Jules Koundé wasn’t in favour of joining Tottenham Hotspur after the north London club showed interest in the Sevilla star.
Last week, we carried a report from Mundo Deportivo, who explained Chelsea are ‘willing to bet’ on the defender who rejected Spurs’ approach.
For the last 48 hours, various reports have indicated Tottenham are close to signing Bryan Gil for €25m and as a part of the deal, Érik Lamela will move in the opposite direction.
AS also report Spurs wanting to sign Gil and add the money [plus Lamela] from the 20-year-old’s sale will help Monchi to proceed with ‘some tranquillity’ in the market.
It was earlier suggested the La Liga side will not be able to make new additions without raising funds. With Gil’s impending exit, they don’t have to let Koundé leave, if they don’t receive a convincing offer.
It’s claimed Julen Lopetegui’s side were ‘determined not to sell’ the France international and Gil’s move to Spurs will help them ‘strengthen the position’.
The new development at Sevilla, as per AS, is ‘bad news for Chelsea’ since the Blues were looking to sign Koundé this summer.
