Prior to Brazil’s match against Peru on Tuesday evening, we had been seeing the drama lived by Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison, who’s having a goal drought for the national team.

The player missed a sitter in the match against Bolivia, and with support from teammates, was expected to finally find a goal in this new match.

That happened, but was ruled out for him being offside after a six-minute review, which felt like a bucket of cold water, and Brazilian star Neymar then came up to talk about that. The quotes are relayed by Globo Esporte.

“I don’t think Richarlison’s was offside, the image is diagonal, there’s no precision to it. It’s bad for football, everyone comes to see the goal. When the doubt is cancelled out, it gets boring. But that’s part of it,”
said Neymar.

Brazil ended up winning the match, but with Richarlison not scoring again, the national team’s main striker now has five games without a goal.

The Tottenham striker didn’t hide his frustration after the match, and speaking to local journalists, admitted he’s going through a difficult personal time, and will seek psychological help.

It’s unclear whether that will affect his upcoming matches with Spurs. He has five appearances for Tottenham this season, and is still to score in their Premier League campaign.
