Daniele Massaro might be a name that passed many English football fans by, but with over 370 appearances in the Serie A during his 18 year career, he’s a well-known entity in Italy.
Playing for both Fiorentina and Milan, the former striker, now 59 years of age and a public relations manager for the San Siro side, has a few connections with Patrick Cutrone.
The Wolverhampton player, now on loan at Valencia after a failed spell in Florence, swapped his childhood club for Molineux back in 2019 in a move that surprised many.
The once capped Italy international didn’t particularly seem to be on his way out when the move was orchestrated, and there were doubts as to how much say he had in the matter at the time.
He struggled with Wolves, which led to his loan to Fiorentina, and for Massaro, the decision to swap Milan for the Premier League club wasn’t the right one when asked which player he saw himself in the most these days.
He said, speaking to Libero and relayed by Milan News 24: “Maybe Cutrone, when he came in, it made a difference. I’m sorry he didn’t understand what he missed out by leaving Milan. Everyone loved him there. Too bad he chose to leave: he missed a great opportunity to have an extraordinary career at Milan”.
