Kevin Wimmer’s transfer to Tottenham from FC Koln hasn’t exactly been a runaway success. Mauricio Pochettino has a wealth of other options in central defence, which has left Wimmer picking up the scraps.

Sometimes the Austrian international has even found himself out of the Tottenham squad, which must have been a worrying development for the 24 year old and those who advise him.

A disaster of a last international break saw Wimmer played out of position, and the subject of much criticism. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the footballer decided a change of scene, and getting his career back on track, wasn’t the worst idea.

German newspaper Bild report that Wolfsburg want to sign the Tottenham player, but they don’t sound hugely confident of a deal. Pochettino would probably like to keep Wimmer until at least the summer, so a winter switch would look unlikely.

If that’s the case, and Wolfsburg can’t agree with Tottenham, then Bild say Sevilla’s Timothee Kolodziejczak is an option.
