Eredivisie side AZ have wrapped up a deal for Wout Weghorst very quickly indeed. Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf are now reporting that after agreeing a fee with Heracles of around €1.5m, AZ then started personal terms talks with the player.
Joes Blakborn, the player’s agent, was quoted by De Telegraaf this morning as saying: “We now engage with AZ to discuss personal terms.”
Well, things moved quickly and the Dutch newspaper now say Weghorst has agreed a deal with AZ until June 2021. The out and out striker is seen as a replacement for Vincent Janssen, who Tottenham are trying to buy.
Voetbal Primeur call it a Moneyball situation, with AZ paying a small fee for Weghorst and receiving a big one for Janssen. They believe an agreement with Tottenham will probably be reached this week, allowing the striker to travel to London and complete his move.
