What Lucas Torreira is currently living in Florence, away from Arsenal, is described as a ‘dream’.
That’s what Corriere dello Sport call it on Monday, as the Uruguay international, who didn’t fall into Mikel Arteta’s plans at the Gunners, scored yet another goal for Fiorentina at the weekend, this time against Inter.
This takes his tally for the season to four, which is the same amount he managed in the entirety of his two seasons at Sampdoria before heading to Arsenal.
Torreira arrived in Florence towards the end of the summer on a loan with an option to buy at €15m, which most now believe will be triggered.
The Serie A side might try and get a ‘small discount’ from Arsenal, but that doesn’t seem to be something the London side will be interested in discussing since he’s doing so well for Fiorentina.
Corriere dello Sport recall that Torreira himself said his representatives had already met with his current side to discuss his future, which would be to give him ‘the dream of living the Italian dream for a long time’.
La Nazione, relayed by Fiorentina Uno, have something similar, explaining that ‘very important news about the future of the midfielder’ has come to light.
It’s said Arsenal ‘have already made it known to the Viola club that as soon as someone flies to London with the €15m for the redemption, the yes to the transfer of Torreira will be automatic without complications’.
This shouldn’t be too difficult, since the city of Florence ‘has already fallen in love with the Uruguayan’, and reinforces the idea that it really is €15m or nothing from the Gunners, who must be thrilled at how well this has all worked out for them.
