On May 1st, we covered a claim from Laola1 in Austria that Tottenham are keen on Red Bull Salzburg forward Hwang Hee-chan.
Hertha Berlin were also said to be interested, and a lot was thought to be dependent on what the 22 year old can do at the World Cup this summer for South Korea.
Hwang Hee-chan has been named in South Korea’s preliminary squad, so that’s a start.
Tuesday’s edition of Salzburger Nachrichten goes over several Salzburg players who could be leaving the club this summer. When it comes around to the South Korean, Tottenham get a mention.
It’s claimed that not only are Spurs keen, but Borussia Dortmund are on the case too and would be prepared to offer €15m for the speedster. Given the interest from such clubs, the Austrian newspaper puts the chance of a transfer at 80%.
Neither club are pushed forward as a favourite, but it seems that Hertha Berlin may now have been edged out of the race.
There’s also no direct comment on how a €15m offer would be seen by Red Bull Salzburg, but the insinuation seems to be it may be enough.
