Islam Slimani keeps forcing his way out of Sporting. Despite having a good pre-season, the striker still wants a move to a better league and a higher salary, and that’s why he’s confronting the club board before the window shuts.

According to O Jogo, Slimani trained normally on Monday morning and then asked the manager Jorge Jesus to talk about his transfer situation. The request was denied and the player didn’t show up in the afternoon session.

Officially, Sporting say Slimani had authorisation to take care of personal matters, but the Portuguese press really think he’s desperate for a move.

O Jogo includes Leicester, Tottenham, Arsenal, Southampton, Liverpool, Juventus and Napoli in the race for the attacker. Record go more softly and only mentions the Foxes, the Gunners and Spurs. Both papers only take the claims from the English and Italian press, though.

Slimani had a €30m release clause, which expired in June. But despite having the power to deny all the offers now, Sporting would still accept something around that amount.

The 28-year-old finished the last season with 31 goals and 6 assists. He was linked to around 16 Premier League clubs (we’re not joking here), but none of them seem to have convinced Sporting to sell so far.
