Joel Campbell seems very happy in Portugal. The Arsenal loanee didn’t take long to adapt to a new league, and scored his first goal for Sporting this weekend, helping the team in a 3-0 win against Moreirense.
The winger talked to journalists after the match and couldn’t hide his joy: “It’s a big club who opened the doors. Actually, I’m enjoying it a lot. I believe I’ll learn a lot here, it will help me in the career I want and for the moments that are coming, like the World Cup Qualifiers or the Champions League. Sporting are a team who will allow me a footballing improvement.”
The 24-year-old has insisted he’s focused on his development, despite the quick success: “I’m very happy because I feel I’m growing sportingly. I’m a blessed person because I can play football. I enjoy every moment, whether it’s good or bad. The bad times help me to grow as a player and as a person.”
Asked about Arsenal, the player made clear he’s not concerned about going back to the club right now, as doing well at Sporting is the priority: “Last year I played a lot in the final part of the season, but a footballer always wants more. I hope I can play at Sporting this year, play as well as possible, and then think about Arsenal, But, for now, the only focus is on Sporting.”
