David Moberg Karlsson believes Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and former Sunderland midfielder Stéphane Sessègnon are the best he’s played with so far in his career.

The former Sweden international is at IFK Norrköping and has given a lengthy interview to Fotbollskanalen.

They asked him 22 questions and the last one was whether Andreas Johansson was the best he’s played with so far. The winger played alongside the former defender during his first spell at IFK Norrköping between 2016 and 2018.

When responding to that, David Moberg Karlsson mentioned the Newcastle United star and his old teammate from Sunderland.

The 30-year-old played with Isak for Sweden and assisted the Newcastle striker’s first goal for the national team in a friendly against Slovakia in January 2017.

David Moberg Karlsson was at Sunderland during the 2013/14 season. Although he failed to impress for the Black Cats, he spent a short period with Sessègnon at the Stadium of Light.

He trained with Sessègnon during his time at Sunderland and was clearly impressed.

“It’s Alexander Isak. I did a few minutes with him in the national team on a January tour. I made the first assist for him, it was vital and his first national team goal,” he said.

“Someone kicked my toe, and it went to him. Great assist. It is probably a milestone in his career. He probably remembers it the same way I do. I think he has me to thank. I think he can send a Christmas card. But if we are to be serious, he is doing very well in the Premier League.

“But if I have to take one that I have belonged to the same club, it will be Sessègnon. We were at Sunderland. He was incredible. If you played five-on-five with him in training, you won. It was that simple. He was small in body but still so strong and technical. It was awesome. You couldn’t have guessed that right?”

David Moberg Karlsson made only one appearance for Sunderland and left them for FC Nordsjælland in 2014.
