America has long been referred to as the land of opportunity and for Xande Silva, that’s definitely the case and a nice career boost after struggles at clubs including West Ham and Nottingham Forest.
O Jogo cover the 27-year-old today and how he’s currently flourishing at Atlanta following his failures at Nottingham Forest and West Ham earlier in his career.
Silva started his career in Portugal and player for various clubs there before moving to West Ham in a €1.5m deal in August 2018.
He made just two appearances for the Hammers before departing in 2021 to Nottingham Forest but didn’t cut the mustard their either, managing just 10 appearances before joining Dijon on a free transfer.
Things were slightly brighter in France but a year later he was on the move again, joining Atlanta on loan before making the move permanent in the January transfer window.
This year he’s proven to be vital with three goals and three assists making this one of the greatest moments of his career.
There’s been plenty of big moments too, with him the key man in the recent clashes with Inter Miami and ensuring they would be extended to a third game between the two sides.
It’s a big turnaround for the former West Ham and Nottingham Forest man and something he’s keen to ensure doesn’t end soon.
“I always go on the field to have fun and show my value. Being on the field with or against great legends is great,” he said.
“I can’t say it’s the best moment of my career because I’ve had the misfortune of playing with a foot injury since the beginning of the season, but it’s clearly a beautiful moment.
“The objective is to go as far as possible. Let’s work to move forward. This is already one of the best leagues in the world, it’s not common to see a stadium with so many facilities and fans. I have to contribute in every game with this opportunity they gave me.”
