Atlético Madrid have identified Fulham’s André-Frank Zambo Anguissa as a potential target should Thomas Partey leave this summer.
The Ghanaian midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, particularly Arsenal, who reports have claimed are willing to pay his €50m release clause.
Should he depart, Atlético will have to find a replacement, and according to La Razón, they have identified three possible signings.
One of those is Fulham’s Anguissa, who has been impressing during a loan spell with Villarreal this season.
The midfielder joined Fulham in a €25m deal last summer but a disastrous first season at Craven Cottage saw him shipped out to the La Liga side last summer.
He’s impressed there, establishing himself as a first-team regular and making 32 appearances in all competitions so far.
His form has caught Atlético’s attention, alongside city rivals Real Madrid, who could both ‘offer Fulham the chance to make money’ on him this summer.
It’s explained that both see the midfielder as a possible recruit but would be unwilling to pay the Cottagers’ €25m asking price.
That has already scuppered a permanent switch to Villarreal, who have turned down the chance to activate a clause in his loan deal at that price and both Madrid clubs want Fulham to ‘lower their claims’ before they will make their move.
