With Nicolas Otamendi’s departure from Manchester City in the summer looking more and more likely, new clubs get linked to him every week.

This time, a story from AS says Atletico Madrid are looking to sign five defenders in the next transfer window, and the Argentine international would be one of them.

The outlet writes that Otamendi is looking for a way out of Manchester City, since he’s not getting the playing minutes he wanted to.

There are no further details on how talks are going, so apparently, Otamendi is just one more name on Atletico’s long list of possible signings.

In the past few days, the defender was linked to the likes of Valencia, West Ham, and even River Plate, although the Argentine media said it’s an unlikely move.

Marca wrote that one of the main reasons Otamendi wants to leave Manchester City is because he’s afraid of losing his place in the national team for not having enough playing time.
