Kalidou Koulibaly being of interest to Chelsea and Barcelona is nothing new.

For well over a year, and still to this day, the Italian media have insisted the Blues retain an interest in the Napoli player.

It was the case when Antonio Conte was manager, and when Maurizio Sarri moved from Naples to Stamford Bridge the claims continued.

They got a boost given the Napoli connection, but the main Serie A defender linked to Chelsea in the summer window was Juventus’ Daniele Rugani, who had also worked with Sarri previously.

There have been several offers claimed, and France Football take it to the highest level in their edition this week.

It’s claimed Chelsea submitted an ‘astronomical offer’ of €80m for the France-born Senegal international.

Despite even that not succeeding, France Football say Barcelona scouts have been following Koulibaly for two or three months to decide whether they should make a move.

Chelsea’s offer is so high it’s unlikely Barca would look to match it, giving Sarri’s side the price advantage going forward.

Having renewed with Napoli in September, the defender will be well aware he’s not going anywhere on the cheap.
