Aksam report Besiktas president Ahmet Nur Cebi will hold talks with club manager Abdullah Avci with regards to the January transfer window, and it’s claimed Domagoj Vida’s future will be on the agenda.

The Turkish newspaper report Aston Villa remain interested in signing the Croatian defender when the transfer opens next month.

The player has been linked with a move to the Premier League side in in recent weeks following reports they could look to bolster their squad in the new year.

According to Aksam, Villa’s interest in Vida is ‘genuine’ but the final decision about the player’s future will be made by the Besiktas manager. That they have to insist this interest is genuine is probably due to how many nonsense reports there’s been about Vida in the past.

Besiktas’ board are looking for resources for January in order to bring in new players and selling Vida could provide them with much needed revenue.

The 30 year old is the highest earner at the club, and the Black Eagles would free up some of their wage bill with the player’s exit.

Vida is under contract with the Super Lig side until June 2022.
