On Tuesday, Spanish outlet Marca broke the news regarding Aston Villa’s pursuit for Atletico Madrid star João Félix.
A story from journalist David Medina claimed the Villans are ‘already negotiating’ for the Portuguese forward, as he’s looking to leave the La Liga side this winter.
The news had big coverage in the Spanish media, and on Wednesday evening, Marca featured a live stream with Medina to talk more about the potential move to Aston Villa.
The journalist once again claimed Felix has a terrible relationship with manager Diego Simeone, which isn’t a surprise at this point, and he’s leaving Atletico Madrid regardless of the destination.
Medina stated ‘everything is in the hands of Jorge Mendes’. The agent is said to be offering João Félix to all clubs who can afford his signing.
Marca’s readers had been questioning about the player leaving for a mid-table club, and Medina claims that the Premier League’s mid-table clubs actually have more money than Spain’s big sides, taking the race for Boubacar Kamara as an example.
The journalist did not bring a major update on Aston Villa’s talks, and mostly claimed there’ll be an auction for the transfer, even though Unai Emery’s side are seen as ‘well placed’ in that race.
