Andrés García’s move to Aston Villa in the January transfer window has helped former club Levante post profits in it’s accounts for the year.
That’s according to Marca, who report that García’s move, and a couple of others means the Spanish side ‘could reach a surplus’ in their accounts.
The newspaper explains that while a total of 18 players have left Levante since last summer, Andrés García’s move to Aston Villa in January is one of three key ones that have helped the club’s finances grow.
They have already reached their budget for the 2024/25 season, with four months remaining in the fiscal year in Spain, and García’s exit is a key reason why.
He was one of three departures to bring money into the club, earning them €7m plus €2m in variables from Aston Villa. They are also set to receive 15% of a future sale, potentially helping them again in the years to come.
That deal, plus sales of Fabricio and Kocho meant Levante earned a total of €13.1m, exceeding the budget they had planned for the year. That was set at €11.7m. Thus, once taxes are deducted, they will be left with a surplus of €349,000, something to be celebrated by the second division team.
